THE DEPARTMENT AT A GLANCE: The department consists of 5 full-time officers, 3 part-time officers, a Chaplain, and a Victim Advocate who provide a wide range of protection and enforcement services. Communication is provided by Abbeville County Dispatch which operates under the 911 system. In addition to providing 24-hour police coverage to the Town of Due West, assistance from surrounding agencies is available to the Town through Mutual Aid Agreements. These agreements enhance the department’s resources and relationships between the Town of Due West, and nearby and regional jurisdictions.
COMMUNITY POLICING: The Due West Police Department operates under a community policy philosophy and accomplishes this by deterring crime through vigorous law enforcement to promote a safe and secure environment as well as enhancing highway safety through education and enforcement. We also educate law enforcement personnel and the citizens of the community through public meetings and professional training. We are also proud to be able to provide law enforcement personnel with the proper tools and equipment to perform at the highest level.

The Due West Department of Utilities is responsible for providing quality electric and sanitary sewer service to the residents and businesses of the Town of Due West. This is done with a workforce of three full-time employees. We are responsible for maintaining 15 miles of electric lines and 9 miles of sanitary sewer lines.
The Due West Department of Public Works is responsible for maintaining the streets and sidewalks of the Town, other than the ones belonging to SCDOT. We are also responsible for overseeing the collection of garbage, trash, little containers, and dog waste stations.
